We’re right in the middle of the last quarter of the year. With less than 2 months until 2019 clocks out,the afrobeat scene in West Africa is still picking up steam.
The month of October saw lots of releases from their A-list acts and emerging acts alike, including solo hits and several solid Ghana-Naija collaborations like this one by Joey B and BOJ and this one by M.anifest and Simi.
Here, we detail 20 of the best music releases from Ghana during the month of October 2019. Check them out below.
Shatta Wale – Borjor
Shatta Wale delivered a monster hit with this one, trust me! Halfway through the month, and in celebration of his birthday, he dropped this surprise release titled “Borjor”. He drops the dancehall for a minute and shows his skills in 100% afrobeats. And I must say, he killed it!
Joey B ft. BOJ – Waste No Time
Rapper Joey B impressed with this smooth smooth tune featuring our very own BOJ. He kept it simple with the bars in this easy going bop. Combined with BOJ’s signature vocals, the duo cooked up the perfect Ghana-Naija collaboration for the approaching festive season.
M.anifest ft. Simi – Big Mad
In the run to his upcoming EP/album (he has refused to state which, just calling it a project) The Gamble, Ghanaian rapper M.anifest dished out this love-turned-sour rap ballad, featuring our very own Simi, making for an excellent collaboration, complete with pristine visuals to match. This shortly following his feature on Burnaboy’s album, M Dot is on quite the run.
Cina Soul – Killi Mi
Ghanaian soul singer Cina Soul dropped this beautiful highlife tune with a message tackling domestic violence. Another product of her Universal Music Nigeria deal, “Killi Mi” is yet another example of her elite musicality, coupled with a movie-like official video.
Sarkodie ft. Idris Elba & Donaeo – Party & Bullshit
The Ghanaian rap king Sarkodie linked up with British actor Idris Elba as well as British singerDonaeo to deliver this joint titled “Party & Bullshit”. The song is a bit out of the box for the elite rapper, but it’s a smash hit nonetheless.
Magnom – Feeloo
Afrobeats Magnom is back once again, as he puts the hip-hop on pause to deliver an anthem for the dance floor. “I dey love the way I feeloo!”
Kuami Eugene – Obiaato
Lynx Entertainment star singer Kuami Eugenereturned with his first brand new material following the release of his debut album Rockstar. The song is titled “Obiaato” and it’s charting, as the rockstar usually does. Because “das how star do”.
Bisa Kdei – Anadwo
Ghanaian highlife sensation Bisa Kdei returned from a brief haitus to deliver this dance tune titled“Anadwo”. Looks like even highlife superstars want to get in on the December action!
DJ Sly ft. Stonebwoy & Shatta Wale – Dance
Dance instrumentals with little or no singing seem to be the hot new thing, as DJ Sly presented this dance tune with samples of Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale‘s voices in the mix. A bop to get the party people going!
Kofi Kinaata – Things Fall Apart
Rapper Kofi Kinaata delivered what’s looking like the biggest hit of his career so far. A mid-tempo afrobeats & highlife fusion, “Things Fall Apart” is a socially conscious joint about the contamination of the Christian faith by worldly desires and pleasures.
Amaarae – Like It
Ghanaian singer and “shawty with the bald head”Amaarae came back with a brand new single, an alternative-R&B joint titled “Like It”, and she used the opportunity to showcase it with some extremely creative, out-of-the-box visuals. (Ghana) alte for the win!
Kofi Mole – Obi Pe
Buzzing rapper and “Don’t Be Late” hitmaker Kofi Mole dropped the lead single from his debut EP titled Aposor Love. Yet another hip-hop heartbreak anthem, and a bop for sure. Looks like Kofi has cracked his formula. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it right?
Gidochi ft. Stonebwoy – High With Me
One half of the “Fa Ma Me” hitmakers Gidochidropped this gem titled “High With Me”, with a standout appearance from BhimNation CEOStonebwoy. A sweet tune by all standards.
Wendy Shay – Kut It
Ghanaian singer Wendy Shay came back with new material, a single with a video to match titled “Kut It”. Her chemistry with producer MOGBeatz gets better with song after song, as she tries to fill the gap left by the late Ebony Reigns.
DJ Millzy ft KiDi & Shaker – Fever
Ghanian disc jockey presenter and producer DJ Millzy stepped forth with this collaboration titled“Fever”, featuring Lynx Entertainment singer KiDi and rapper Shaker of BBNZ Live. “Baby give me fever, when you ring my bell eh!”
Supa Gaeta ft. Ko-Jo Cue – Woa
Rapper, singer, and producer Supa Gaeta dropped this single titled “Woa”, featuring rapper Ko-Jo Cue. “Woa”, which means “you” in English, and on the joint the duo discuss the pain of unrequited or unreturned love.
Bryan The Mensah – Level 2
Rapper Bryan The Mensah impressed with a brand new offering, simply titled “Level 2”.
Edem – The Story Of Efo Kodjo
Ghanaian rapper Edem releases a brand new single, a mid-tempo afrobeats joint titled “The Story Of Efo Kodjo”. An interesting tune.
Ko-Jo Cue ft Worlasi – Dzo
The second single from his just-dropped album For My Brothers, rapper Ko-Jo Cue impressed once again, but this time around with rapper and singerWorlasi in the lineup for this one titled “Dzo”.
